  • Food for Thought... I will never use an RO system

I will continue to use my water purifier (carbon filter) after reading the info in this site... will never use an RO system!

An RO system is "Reverse Osmosis" this being a treatment where you are making the water as pure as possible. It takes everything out of the water and if filtered properly, it will become almost 100% non conductive. Using an RO system robs the water of all nutrients, etc. that we need/use for everyday uses. Dont ever put RO water in a fish tank.....i know this sounds funny but the water will do what it has to do to get its nutrients back...RO water will eat and destroy all types of metal, brass, stainless, especially rubber....Unless you have insurance out the ying yang and a crap load of money, i wouldnt use it.

I work for a pipe mill where we have a large RO system. its not friendly to our equipment but is needed to transfer hudreds of volts of electricity.....it destroys everything. copper, stainless, non conductive hose, etc.

Depending where you live, there may be a lot of junk in your water. There have been articles about the kinds of stuff found but not tested for in local water systems.
Some people filter their water then add in minerals so they know what's in the water they use.

For most its a must, for others its a negative.

          +1.

People normally use RO bc they need too.

For others its not needed so not preferred.

distilled water has the same aggressive nature as RO water as well. i use the water purifier machines at walmart. even though they say that RO technology is used, i doubt it is 100% passthrough type system since those are wasteful and i dont hear water runniing in the machine while filling my bottles. it does seem to be pretty clean though so i mix it with dechlorinated tap water in a 4:1 ratio so i can lower the pH while maintaining some minerals. i also dose with CaNO3, MgSO4, and trace mineral suppliments and it seems to work out okay.
