  • cheap quick fix for cloudy water.... yes, it was copied and pasted...

    Things You'll Need

    • Aquarium powerhead pump with 3/4-inch inlet standpipe fitting
    • Thin-walled, 3/4-inch diameter PVC pipe
    • End cap for 3/4-inch diameter PVC pipe
    • Hacksaw or PVC saw
    • Household water filter canister-style cartridge - 2 micron

The filter cartridge can be attached to an existing power head intake!

    1Cut a 1/2-inch length and a 1 1/2-inch length of 3/4-inch-diameter PVC pipe.

2Attach PVC end cap to the 1 1/2-inch length of 3/4-inch-diameter PVC pipe by twisting tightly into place.

3Insert the capped length of 3/4-inch diameter PVC pipe into the hole on one end of the canister-style filter cartridge. It should fit snugly.

4Place the 1/2-inch length of 3/4-inch-diameter PVC pipe over the standpipe inlet of the powerhead pump.

5Insert the PVC-ringed standpipe inlet of the powerhead pump into the open hole on the end of the canister-style filter cartridge.

6Place the assembled filter into the corner of the aquarium so the capped PVC pipe rests on the bottom. Make sure the powerhead is completely submerged before you turn on the pump.

filter cartridges you can get at wal-mart... 2-pack for like 6 bucks!

Nice info, I use an old marineland magnum 350 with the water polishing element in place for this but your link is a nice alternative if that filter ever fails.
