  • Plumbing Ideas

I'm getting ready to setup my reef ready tank and wanted to get some ideas on how to plumb the tank. Does anyone know a good site which can give me some ideas?

    You need dorsal pipes.

And use a low return pump and also put a ballvalve between the overflow and the wet/dry.

You will have to play with it but noise can be substantially reduced.

Not worried about the noise so much yet, I'm just looking for some nice clean ideas on how to run the plumbing.

2 corner overflow boxes with 2 x 1 3/4" hole drilled in each.
          4 x 1 3/4" holes drilled for closed loop.

O, you just don't know yet.....it can become unbearible.

If you want clean then just use PVC pipe for everything. Makes things look neat to me.

Yea, but I hate the fact that everything will be stuck there permanently. I wanted to setup it up to give me some flexibility if I wanted to move things around.

personally, with 2 holes in each overflow I would do herbie style overflows on both sides. Suppossed to be ultra quiet. then I would use the CL as a return with an external pump.

There are locking disconnects available for pvc which would allow you to disassemble the piping.

Nahhh, I ran my old RR 125g like that. From hole under the tank to PVC I used a rubber hose with claps. And from PVC to wet/dry I used another rube hose with claps.

So, I would remove the rubber hoses and the entire PVC pipping would come off. The hoses where about 4" long. Found them at sears in the toilet repair section.

Even cleaner! Use the stuff people run on the intake side of a eheim 2260/62.

Think he's referring to the locking barbed fittings.
