  • Ammonium Hydroxide locally?

Anyone know of a good place to buy some decent NH3OH without all the lemon junk, surfactants, and bald dudes on the labels? I was hoping to speed a fishless cycle along. I have tried the HI stores and a few cheap dollar stores along with wallys but nothing

They're in Pasadena. We use them at my lab all the time. Looks like they don't have it in stock though.

dang pasadena is too far, we wont test ammonia measurements at our facility anymore so we dont have any around. i checked out ace's website and they have a 10% janitor strength which looks clear...hopefully thats it and in stock.

i am doing food plus using plants and some flourite from my large tank, along with some substrat pro out of the canister placed into the spillway upstream of the biowheel. in short, i am not patient with cycling and either is mom lol. i am hoping to get this done in a week or two.

If you are using dirty stuff from other tanks and plants why are you even dosing anything?

I would just toss the fish in and have him produce what the bacteria needs to survive... isn't that the point anyways?

gotta be careful with moms betta, i normally cycle with labyrinth fish since they seem to tolerate the ammonia / nitrite spike better but this isnt my fish so i want to cycle quickly for her.

Ace Hardware does carry some Janitorial Strength 10% Ammonium Hydroxide. It doesnt list ingredients but it is fragrance free / colorless / doesnt taste good and doesnt foam so no surfactants are in it. I feel good about using it. I wish the plants felt good about going from 4WPG to 1 lol. weeeereee meeeelttiiingggg
