What is Your Favorite Test Kit for Nitrates?

What is your Choice of test kit for nitrates? I picked up an API Freshwater Master Test Kit awhile back. I’m fairly happy with most of the tests, except for the nitrate test. It’s not so much the number of steps and amount of shaking required (although a quicker easier test would be nice—lol) it’s that every time I do it I’m out on the back patio holding the reference card and test tube up the sun at various angles and wondering if I’m going color blind? Does anyone have any recommendations/comments for their preferred nitrate test kit? Specifically for freshwater if it makes a difference.

I actually like the API kit, although you have to shake the bottles at least 30 seconds to get an accurate test. And your nitrates on that kit will definitely show falsely high levels if you have any nitrites present at all.

If your serious about getting good test kits get salifert. they're pricey but worth it imo.

For quick test every few days. I use the cheap 5 in 1 test strips. But if I think there maybe a prob. or see something I don't like in a test. The master kit comes out. Its harder to use but gives better info.
