  • DIY: Eheim 2260 to 2262

I might be a little late, but thought I should share anyways for those who do not know.

You can turn the 2260 to a 62 by simply replacing a $9 part. I compared the diagram of the pumps and parts numbers from the 2 pumps and this is the only difference.

    Part #: 7443670 Pump Cover

Where to get it from: http://parts.eheim.com/display_product.php?pid=1262

It seems as the pump cover that comes with the 2260 has a flow restriction as opposed to the 62 that is wide open.

I don't think that's necessarily the only difference. The pump motor containing the electronics is probably different as well since there's a big difference in how much more power is consumed by the 1262 pump compared to the 1260. I don't think that difference can be attributed to that cover alone.

The 1262 impeller might turn a lot faster than in the 1260, even though it might be the same part. The magnetic field created by the 1262 is probably not the same as the 1260 either, which also cannot be attributed to a plastic part.

That said, changing that part in a 2260 and going to larger fittings all around might improve flow.

        correct agg.

the only difference in the 1260 and 1262 pump is the volute cover.
Now the big difference is the 2260 and the 2262 kits.

People have tried and they have stated it does increase the flow.

Everything else on the pump is identical Sunny, except that part. I believe the fittings are the same too.

I'll try it and report back.

So that little piece increases the power consumption?

Sunny, Eheim isn't the only company to do this. The difference between the 2215 and 2217 is the impeller only. Others also have stated that Tunze practices similar methods with their equipment.

I'm a bit skeptical myself, so I'll have a try at it.

It does not double but does open it up and allow for about 300+ gph of flow.
If you compare the two volute covers it's almost obvious.

The big difference is the complete filters, the 2260 and the 2262. The 2262 comes with the Eheim QuickDisconnects which is where the money is. Price those two out and then compare the price difference of the two filters.

Tunze 6045 and 6025 is the same I believe, I had them in the past and all I had to do was swap the front cover or shave down the deflector. The flow increase was amazing.

Now another one is the MagDrive pumps. the mag 3 and 5 share the same impeller and the only difference is the impeller cover.

Koralia does this too, I think the K2 and K3 share the same body or was it the K1 and K2... which ever, two of them share the same body

I can't wrap my mind about that little part increasing power consumption from 65W to 80W...

More reasons to like my FX5s

The decreased restriction allows for the the magnetic pump to work more freely which increases power consumption.

More flow = More impeller revolutions = More power consumption

It's a pretty simple concept, you gain approx the same in comparison to the increased power consumption
