  • To use venturi or to not use venturi....that is the question

I'm curious as to how my fellow fishbox peeps feel about using a venturi line on your powerhead.

I hear the benefits are more oxygen and a more powerful flow. But I hate the look of all the micro bubbles that float around in your tank makes the tank look dirty.

So how does everyone else feel about it?

    I use them.

I adjust it till you can barely see the bubbles.

I can't find that happy medium, either it's too low that it's no point or too much to the point where my tank looks clouded with micro bubbles.

Just because you can't see bubbles doesn't mean it isn't sucking air... If you don't want to use it just aim it towards the surface for agitation

i use powerheads with venturis at night instead of airstones to increase oxygen. they are on timers so i dont see them during the day. i had some intake floats that have adjustable screw tops so you can change the amount of air coming in and those work well. i dont know who made them though, they came on some random powerhead that i bought once upon a time. if it really bugs you then you could play around with doing a needle wheel mod to the impellor and then rigging the venturi to the intake side of the powerhead? this might atomize the bubbles enough that they absorb...

I prefer a clean look... no venturi, noisy and looks like *****.

It does increase the surface agitation/breakage though so that would help
