    Post pics of the pump?
    Specs or link?

I'm trying to get my temps up and if that pump is doing it I might want it. I am running about 450w of heater in my sump and can only get up to 78-79.

The water feels pretty warm, and I've never has an issue from this Fluke. I shot the temp before I started the pump. Either way, It's about a 10 degree temp swing. It took about 24 hours to get there, but it seems to be holding steady.

Yeah they work, if I shut down the wetdry it warms up.

I have open top, house ac stays at 73-74, giant bubble maker in the sump along with a powerhead churning it and then the media reactor return splashes back in above the bioballs. Oh, and all the surface movement in the tank. Think I evaporate about 3g every few days

Don't think the tank is sealed enough.

if the pump motor is sitting in the water of the sump then it is transferring thermal energy to the sump so yeah, +1 to remote mounting it so it can air cooled. just make sure it doesnt overheat since air cooling is far less efficient than water unless you use forced air. is the pump close coupled to the motor via a solid shaft by any chance? this would also tranfer heat. in the refinery business, we would use a magnetically coupled pump and stand the pump off from the motor about six inches or so to prevent heat transfer. many aquarium pumps are basically magnetically coupled because of the impellor design and also insulated.

I just need to get another pump. No way to remotely locate this pump. I used it because I had it laying around, figured it was worth a shot. It might work with Q's setup, just not with mine. I'll post specs when I get home.

The electical cost of that industrial pump is probably close to 50 dollars a month. Factor that in and a good pump would be worth it.

It is a Wayne 1/6 hp utility pump. 120 volt, 60 Hz, 4.8 amp it puts out about 650 gph.

yeah the bottom mount suction doesnt leave you with many options. if you raised it in the sump so that only the bottom inch or so was actually contacting the water then that might minimize heat transfer but im not sure how much of an impact that would make

Yeah looks to be a very inefficient pump. Cones to about 115W for 900gph at zero head. Still hard to imagine it would dump so much heat into the water.
