i bet sump pumps, like those used in gas station tanks, are designed to be cooled by the media around them.

That pump is going to cost you $400 to $600 a year in electricity depending on your cost per Kilowatt. I wanted to do the same thing with an old spa pump but it would cost me an extra $100 a month to run it.
