  • Jacuzzi pump for return pump on 125?

Found a hydrabath pump in my garage today and thought "could I use this as a return?" being that it's a jacuzzi pump I dont think they're meant to run 24/7. Then again I could be wrong. Anyone got any info? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1339823785.507597.jpg

Pics and stats above. I'm more afraid of it blowing the return pipe off lol

I don't see why they couldn't run 24/7 but they're noisy and produce a lot of heat, and consume a lot of energy. A pump is a pump though...

My thoughts exactly and I worry about it running 24/7 because jacuzzi pumps are usually used every so often not constantly but yea the heat wont be a problem because itll be for a trophs tank. Energy, eh I'll just have to see what the bill comes out to.

Read through this thread. I cant see the amps on yours but I think your pump is like the one I have around 10 amps. Thats closer to $100 a month in electricity. I wouldnt use it.

Think about the gym jacuzzi. They run about close to 24/7 if not its 24/7.. I think it can run 24/7 but I do agree with Alex that those pumps are loud

I can almost make out the amps in that pic. It actually looks like 10.5A so at 115v that's 1.2kW/hr which is $121 at $0.14 per kW/hr.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is BAD IDEA.

Haha very much a bad idea. Would have been cool if I could run it though without wasting Electricity

Yea, I did the same thing. Pulled mine out the closet and thought it would be really good flow. Then I did the calculations.
