  • Mac's Riverwood

I am looking for some log type DW for a scape i am planning and saw this stuff under the All Living Things petsmart brand. the riverwood is sandblasted and dense, so seems like something i could use. does anyone know what kind of wood it is or if it has been treated with microbial agents? google didnt give me much...

thats what they sell it for, but wood is wood unless they did something to it. they are nice pieces but i did find one post where it was mentioned that they might be treated with a chemical for microbes

I wouldn't think so since birds chew it and stuff.

get a piece and boil the piss out of it and test in a QT tank with some feeders or something

dunno what that means with respect to the wood, its definately been blasted since i had no bark and was smoothe. im thinking it may be okay but who knows. i didnt really want to buy a bunch of it if i had to test it

I am guessing that when they say heat treated it has been baked in a kiln to get the water out.

maybe so, or to kill any critters. its still hella dense though. almost like ironwood.
