  • Large or strong enough air pump without going with a blower?

Just looking up some options for the future tank and wanted to see if anyone had any experience with large luft/air pumps that could overcome some serious depth of water and produce massive amounts of air.

Trying not to go with a blower so that is not an option as of yet.

I'm having the same issue, Quoc. A reciprocating pump is limited by the pressure it can exert on its piston seals.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.

        Yeah that's what I figured.

Looks like the only viable options are the pondmasters or jehmco pumps, reading a lot of not so good reviews on the coralife luft pumps.

I tried an experiment when I went home for lunch. I ran my air lines to the powerheads which are low down on the right side of the tank. I inserted the ends of the air lines in the little ports on top of the exhaust port. The added venturi from the powerheads was enough to assist the air pump and got a nice volume of air blowing out of the powerheads. It's gonna put some microbubbles in the water but I think the additional water movement and oxygenation will make the fish happier.

            like a forced venturi.

I'm not looking for all that, just need a simple and strong enough air pump. I will be running airstones.

No one with a big tank using air pumps?

Here's another option I am thinking about going with.

                      I'm wondering the same.
From what I read on other forums it's fairly loud.

went for the Pondmaster AP-20 but with the coupon code and free shipping with min amount order I upgraded to the AP-40... this thing is clearly meant to circulate a small part of the ocean...

This thing split into four airstones is strong enough to cause a volcanic eruption of flow that forces water out of a 200g tub. I think they use pumps like this to operate moonwalks.
