  • Scotch Brite scrubber

Been wondering...I used to use pieces of the plain green Scotch Brite stuff to scrub algae off the inside of glass tanks all the time. Now I see their packaging is marked " Not for use in Aquariums". Does anyone know if it's because it can scratch some tanks or is there something chemically different that is a hazard to fish?

I use the blue scotch brite scrubbies which are marked as no scratch. I've used them on both glass and acrylic tanks and have not had any problems so far.

          +1.

I have some scratches on my ebi from a brand new green pad. I started buying the blue. I never noticed the warning, to be honest- I don't think it's killed anything of mine.

Thanks for the info. I'll start looking for the blue ones. Don't know if they had both kinds when I've looked, but maybe I just wasn't expecting to find both kinds.
