Manufacturer recommended replacement interval is about 6 months on those when used in a home. If that helps you to get an idea how long you could use it given your water change requirements.

I have the same carbon tank at my house as a pre-filter (2.5 cuft) before the water softener. The manufacture recommend 8-10yrs carbon replacement at a cost of $60 for carbon and installation by the company so it can be replace. Ask Chris for more details when u need the carbon replace.

You can notice HUGE differences when you first use it. Where I'm located, water changes without a carbon bottle, reeks of chlorine and somewhat dirty looking (not too noticeable). With a carbon bottle, everything is pristine! Super clear water, nearly odorless, and practically free of chlorine. I was bumming off Ek's carbon bottle, and when running the water, it needed to be at a slow rate because of how small the bottle was. I'm going to DIY a large carbon bottle with activated carbon and catalytic carbon in about a month or two so that way water changes will be much faster.

I got that bottle that Jacob sold which is only about 24" tall x 9" wide. Running it off the kitchen sink with the cold side running full blast and a little bit of hot water to bump up the water temp to match the tank. Tested yesterday during a water change at 0 Ammonia, 0 Nitrite, 0 Nitrate, and 0 Chlorine. Did not use Safe and the fish are fine as of today.

Bought two carbon tanks from Chris, one for the fish and the other for the house, and both are working very well. How long will it last? Don't know yet but will let you know .
