  • Leslie's changed sand types? Unsafe?

Yesterday I went to LPS to get my usual 50 pound bag of sand for $9.99 & the guy told me they changed the type of sand they sell. He said they no longer carry the stuff they used to & that he was informed by a customer earlier in the day, who also came in to buy some, that the type they sell now cannot be used in an aquarium.

I could swear this is the same stuff I bought a month ago. Anyone else have any input?

This is what they're selling now.
180g - 2 Red Oscars, 1 Tiger Oscar, 1 JD, Convicts, convicts & more convicts
    75g - 1 Silver Aro, 1 Mean Koi Angel
    50g - Various platy & mollies
    10g - 1 Green Spotted Puffer

I bought that exact bag a couple weeks back for my new tanks and fish are actively breeding in it now. Did no special cleaning... just opened bag and poured in like you did with the old leslies sand.

Thanks guys, just wanted to make sure. He was telling me it has chemicals in it now, but I didn't see that anywhere on the bag I just bought nor on the bag I bought last month. Weird. I guess the guy before me freaked him out.

Thanks, Troy. I could swear it was the same but the kid insisted that it wasn't & that another customer had come in earlier & said it wasn't safe for aquariums anymore. I put it in yesterday & no one is dead this morning, so I'm going with what yall already said. Same just darker.
