  • Conch shells for Christmas

My mom picked up some pretty big shells at a local estate sale where she lives & gave them to me for Christmas for my tanks. Some of them feel like they've been clear coated with something, though. My question is how should I prepare them to put in my tanks or should I even be entertaining the idea? Obviously I don't want to hurt my fish.

I've had 2 or 3 shells I got from the crafts store that felt like that. I just boiled it and put in the tank. With the shells that's have a lot of swirls they tend to build up a gas pocket and stink. I've had that happen to the sea shells I got so I replaced them with escargot and whale eyes.

I like the 4+5th shell pictures.
