  • Usage for Prime

Can prime be used to help remove sulfur from tap water? My house well water is very strong sulfur content and when i do my water changes my cichlid act like there's not enough oxygen in water. I've been adding 2 18inch bubbles on water changes and fill slowly. This has helped some in at least I've had no casualty since going this route. Lost a few before adding all the bubbles at water changes.
Would prime help any? They still act goofy for about 10-15 min before returning to normal. Just trying to stop the goofyness so i don't have to worry about any casualtys

I have no clue but Prime has a strong sulphur smell itself. I don't think it would help with sulphur. If the bubblers help is there any way you could age the water before using it? Fill up a tank and aerate it for a day before a water change?

Quick question ? Are you temperature matching the water? I ask because well water is usually pretty cold .

Yes i use a thermometer and match to both before i turn on the python. Never had this problem when i was filling with buckets. And i may end up having to age it to get the sulfur out. My planted tanks with non cichlids don't seem to be bothered near as bad as the cichlids are.

          A carbon filter.
