Bee: You are correct I need to find a job period. This hobby adds up very quickly.
For a smaller amount like 5lbs would be about $60ish? In the long run, the catalytic activated carbon will last much much longer than regular activated carbon. It's 15 times as powerful. It'll make sure your fish will be safe from anything the city puts in the water. Overall, it's a very great investment if your area gets dosed chloramines. I don't have to worry too much about chloramines as they don't add it to the water unless it rains which I just wait a day or two for it to get out of the system. They don't put too much chlorine into the water either, but it's definitely enough to kill fish if a water conditioner isn't used. You might be able to find it someplace cheaper. I was just quoting what's found online.

Just keep in mind that regular activated carbon doesn't remove chloramine. I would still dose the full safe or prime dosage or at least half the dosage to be on the safe side unless you know you don't have a lot of chloramines.
