Has anyone found a replacement for Leslie's Pool Filter sand ? I'm looking for the lighter ..almost white color pool filter sand . I bought a bag of Leslie's last week and it was brown instead of the usual lite beige...off white color . Also , this new stuff is a lot dirtier than the old Leslie's sand . Took me much longer to clean this dirty stuff . This new stuff goes by the name of SeaGulf . I'm not 100% sure....but I think the old stuff was an actual Leslie's brand . The bag had Leslie's on the front of it . If you know an alternative brand.....let me know .

That's only marginally more than what Leslie's?

For some reason, I remember paying low 20s for a 50lb bag of leslies. But with my smaller tanks, 1 bag was enough for a 55g and a 40g or something like that

Exactly . I'm cool with it if it's the lighter color .

Now I definitely have to stop by TexSun pool supply.

SeaGulf is the new Leslie's pool filter sand. I've been to 3-4 of them and it seems like they no longer package their own pfs. They have a few types and one specifically says sand filters and aquariums. It is a pain to wash. I washed mine several times before it got anywhere near clear.

If you're looking for white sand on a small tank, Petco sells very white sand in 20# bags(?).

There's not a lot of TexSun stores but if you can make it to one, it's well worth it. I got some PFS from Leslie's and it's ugly as hayl and like Steven said, it's impossible to clean the stuff. I wonder how much business they're really losing cuz all is aquarium folk don't like the new color.

Yeah, when I said I don't wanna buy it because it's too brown, the guy at Leslie's asked if I was gonna use it in aquariums LOL

Haha! Yeah! I told em I didn't like the new color but I bought some anyway cuz I needed more sand. I mixed it with the TexSun PFS and immediately wished I hadn't.

What a waste of nice pfs.. The new color would complement a black water setup though!
