So I just did my first maintenance on the canister filter. Got everything cleaned and ready to go, when I started the filter back up the output water hose was shooting debris all in my tank. Is this normal? What should I have done differently for next time because now my tank looks awful? I also have a RENA canister filter, should I do a cleaning on that one at the same time or should I stagger my cleanings of the filters?

Is it actually debris, or micro bubbles? Most of the time its micro bubbles because your canister gets an air pocket somewhere when you start it up. I know with eheims, its actually in the eheim FAQ when this happens and their directions are to beat the hell out of it. Smack the side of the canister to try and break up that air pocket

No its actually debris, I can see little brine shrimp floating around. It was just on the start up when the water outflow came on. Lots of debris came out. Doesn't look like anymore is coming out but ton of it is still floating around the tank.

Gambs, It is allege grown in the tubing of the return it look like a small white brine shrimp. And it only happen when you start up the Fulval after clean because you have a strong current flow on the return tubing that put all the nasty stuffs out. The only thing I do for my Fulval I put a fine net at the out put in the tank so it can catch all that stuff for one or two minutes when I start after I clean the filter. another way you can do change tube in black so it slow grown allege.
