Does anyone know of any local medical suppliers? I am trying to see if I can find Metricde 14 locally if not I will order online.

It is used as a liquid co2 substitute in planted aquariums in place of Excel.

They sell it here at my work, just they sell by the case to medical related stores not individuals. Never imagine they use it for planted tanks

Glutaraldehyde is the derivative they both have, though Metricide 14 is about double strength of Excel. It is an alternative Carbon source that also acts as an algaecide. It does not dose CO2, though many use that explanation as it is far more easily understood. Chemically they are nearly the same and many have been using it regularly as a cheaper source then the higher priced aquarium rebranded formula.
