  • Looking For Quiet Air Pump

I have a whisper 100 for my 90 gal bowfront but one of the nozzles broke off so I need to get another air pump. I would like to get something suitable for my tank by itself without having to run another pump, but would also like something more quiet. This whisper doesn't live up to its name. It's noisy and irritating. Any suggestions?

i have heard good things about fluval series, just all in how much you want to spend. whispers are just generally cheaper options

i do use the whisper air pumps on all my tanks actually and dont really have the same issue with noise. after a few years of constant use, one started to have a loose casing and that caused a loud rattle so i replaced it.

i just bought a whisper AP150 for my 75 gal and i dont hear it at all....and its right next to my couch. the unit is in the cabinet under the tank sitting on the box it came in to minimize vibration on the wood.

I also sometimes put a folded up towel under the pump and that quiets it too.

Thanks all! I'm gonna buy a fluval. Yea the whisper I have in my lower cabinet and on a towel but still have that loud vibrating sound. Looks like a fluval Q2 in my future.

Try this. I have 6 of those ( it make from Japan). I think it is the best air filter no noise and good output for my 150gal grave filter. It Cheap 3 for $12 you can not beat the price. http://www.ebay.com/itm/QTY-3-Addx-C...item27d952d974 . If you need a bigger one run 12 output here the one and I have one of these too very strong output of 8. I use it for the back up when the power out. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Medo-Linear-...item1c37c7bc31 .

The quietest air pump I have is the Pondmaster AP20. Dead silent.

Thanks! I swung by petsmart on way home and bought a fluval Q2. This thing is awesome! Whisper needs to rename their air pumps to "louder than fluval".... Thanks again all for the recommendations! Next is another canister filter, nano or
small bow for a shrimp/snail tank, and a hospital tank.... This hobby never ends haha

I'll give you $20 if you can find the AP 20 in my apartment while it's running while you're blindfolded

Come on down! Originally intended for Coop, but I'll make an exception for a self-proclaimed Brit ladies' man LoL
