    Going to add buffer media to my 150g. Question is how much is enough?

    What type of tank? What are u keeping?
    5 gal baby hecqui grow out
    7 gal baby compressicps
    14 bio cube fry tank, multies-orange leleupi-telmatochromis
    4 tank rack- 30 cubes. Shellies, mulities-brevis-telmatochromis-caudopunctaus
    100 gal mixed community tank
    125 Tropheus black bembas

      cichlids mainly africans
      Planning to throw it in my sump. 800-ish gph

        U lookking to buffer the ph?
        If its a mixed Malawi tank with Tanganyika fish as well id say like 8.2
        If mostly tangs id go higher like 8.8

          No tangs. Few pink cons and super red jewels. I'm looking for a quantity here. Thinking of using crushed oyster shells just to maybe help with the occasional PH swing.

            For those guys it really doesn't matter much on the exact ph. Regular tap with conditioner will do just fine.
            As far as substrate, a gravel base or sand will work well. Id throw in some epsom salt too.

              Oh really? I forgot to mention that I have 10 clown loaches and a pleco in there also.
