Changing filter media??

How often do you change you media?
What order would you stack them?

Pre filter-
Filter floss -
Carbon-
Other chemical filter-
Bio filter-

I'm currently running the following for media, and in same order.

Pre filter- pre filter for shop vac
Filter floss - polyfil from hobby lobby
Carbon- wrapped in filter material from petsmart
Other chemical filter- none at this time
Bio filter- pot scrubber with some bio max mixed in

So am I crazy buying the sponge filters, etc from petsmart. Seems like you have al DIY media.

Pretty much a whole DIY wet/dry

I just don't know how often I should change media out.

Don't change bio, rinse little portions of it at a time every month or two. Change out floss when it becomes rank. Carbon - about two weeks.
