  • Film on top of the water

I filled up my sons 90g the other day and turned on the marine land magnum 350 filter and heater. The heater is up to about 73 degrees and slowly climbing. This morning I notice a white film on top of the water I swirled the water around and the white stuff broke up and now is floating around the tank. I went a head and threw in a bubbler in there to keep the top of the tank moving. Is the white film there because the top of the water wasn't moving that much or is it something else. Thanks Chris.....

Ya it's sounds like a protein layer I belive is what it's called I've gotten it as well before I just use powerheads to break the surface of the water and no more issues with it

I use spray bars from my filters to keep the surface agitated.

Anything that keeps the surface agitated will keep the protein layer broken up.

had the same problem a few years back and this worked
