    Depends on what you are trying to accomplish. I have only matrix in mine.

    No, I said that. If I remember right the mesh bags are intended to filter paint guns. Hope you find it easily.

      I plan on putting bag of seachem purigen in the canister also i ordered a bag sachem sells for it so at this point plan on filling with pond matrix, and 250ml of seachem purigen your saying good idea to put some blue bonded stuff at bottom first correct? anything on top?

        I would like to do some type of mechanical filtering with the canister there is no way around it is there? won't the junk get sucked in make it through the matrix and shot it back into the tank?

            so the purpose of the bag is just incase small parts of media get loose they don't make it to the pump??

                The primary purpose of a media bag is to make it easier to take loose media out for cleaning. Imagine having to pick out Matrix without a bag! No way. As a side benefit, the paint strainers actually keep out large particles from going into the media and prematurely clogging it up.

                    Are these bags were talking about so fine they don't allow the aquarium water to do its thing over the matrix before exiting back into tank? am i thinking to much? lol

                          I bought these type media bags off Ebay. Walmart has a laundry type bag also for lingerie.

                            My thinking is the waste would get in to the matrix and turn toxic over period time?? isn't that what the media is for to stop the large pieces? Just asking cause its obvious I'm new….

                              Ya but you do clean it with tank water and remove that stuff or back wash the filter and flush most of it out

                                I like to put filter Floss at the bottom to catch any food or poop. Than the rest with bio.
