I bought a RO/ DI unit to use for salt water. I wonder if it's beneficial to use the RO/ DI water for fresh water fish also? If not, what does it lack? What can I add to make it suitable?

Re: RO/ DI water for fresh water tank?
It's great to makeup water lost thru evaporation, but most area betta breeders that use it eather mix it 50/50 with Houston water or buy expensive mineral and vitamin supliments like this..... I already have 2 running tanks, a Malawi tank and a community tank with angels, silver dollars, tetras ...
I am using tap water treated with Seachem Prime or Kent marine detox. The fish are doing well but I recently bought a RO/ DI unit to get into salt water. I just wonder if I can make their enviroment even better.

One of the reasons that east african (rift lake) chiclids are so popular here in the Houston area is that they come from Hard water like our tap water.
However the South Americans & Asian fish come from rain forests and prefer soft (DI/RO) rain water.
But you can make it easy on yourself, just keep the brackish water natives'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
