  • Current USA Light Fixtures - Experiences...

Anyone have any experience with this company? I've always had Coralife fixtures (which worked well for me in the past), but I'm looking to get some new lighting for the 150 this holiday season. I'm currently looking at this fixture

Only bad thing I could dig up on this particular model is that the stock bulbs crapped out after a few days. 14k is going to be a bit too blue for me anyway, so changing the bulbs would already be in the plan.

Please share your experiences with your Current fixture.

    Re: Current Fixtures?

I have had the current orbit fixture and thought it was very well made.

Also the 14k isn't a true 14k like others that I have used. I would try it first and if you feel its too blue then change it.

Your 150 has the trophs and petros correct?

I would source 6500-6700k bulbs for those guys if so. this will really make the olive on the trews and the yellow on the moops glow! If not then try and swing a set of ADA 8000k.

All my fixtures R Current USA's and I have not come across any prob to date, except one fixtures cooling fans
were wicked load and easily replaced w/ some cheap Fry PC fans.

Jonathan, I never had any Current USA fixtures the Orbit or the Nova, but I know a couple people with the PC lights and have had no problems whatsoever.

That 3 Metal Halides fixture, there is going to be some serious lights...and heat?

I was more interested in getting a new fixture myself, but I was looking at the 4-96W PC lights 72" fixture.

Not sure really which would be better, but with the PC lights there is a lot of combinations you could play with.

                Re: Current USA Light Fixtures

Can someone please tell me the difference between the Orbit and the Satellite Powercompact Fixtures?

From what I have read it appears that the Orbit fixtures is a hanging fixtures and comes equipped that way.  The satellite fixtures sits on your glass tops or could be mounted with legs that sit on top.

Otherwise, they all have the same moonlights, same bulbs, same reflectors, same ballasts, and slightly different aluminun fixture, and same cooling fan/fans.

IS this true, or is there something else different besides the $50 higher price the same equiped Orbit fixture has over the Satellite.

                Thanks,

                Geoff

                  Re: Current USA Light Fixtures

                  I had the orbit fixture....

                  24" 1x250w + 4x54w T5HO.

                  1. Nicer looking
                  2. Mounting legs and really nice hanging hardware.
                  3. Came with 2x dual outlet timers...really nice analog.
                  4. Remote ballast
                  5. Fan in fixture and ballast.
                  6. T5HO
                  7. Moonlights are a mix of white and blue and have individual power supply.
