  • Tanks that are resealed, are they worth it?

So I been looking for a 6 footer. And got a decent deal on a tank/stand combo. However, the tank has been resealed and I turned down the offer cause seller didn't tell me about it before hand.  But I got him to drop the price some.....

The reseal job is decent. For sure not pro, but its not like a kid did it.

So what are the pros and cons of having a resealed tank?

and just general thoughts and advice from the experts regarding the topic of resealed tanks.

    p.s. never owed a reseal so.... :(

    Pro - cheap
Con - 125g of water on the floor.

IMO, spend the money and get it right the first time. You won't see me buying anything  bigger then a 55g used moreless resealed. Added cost is added sense of security.

Who likes cleaning up that much water?

Agreed, but you know the tank I'm talking about. Don't want to put the sell on spot.

But I got is down cheap dog. I'll tell you later how cheap.

I been looking at a lot of tanks, as you know. Some already have old seals. So I was thinking why not just buy one that's resealed which would be better than a used one non-reseal and have the seal bust on me.

Again, I'm no expert....just looking for thoughts and advice.

not going to disagree with that last statement EK. I guess its how picky u r about how the seal looks to me. i mean i have several tanks that i have resealed myself. some of which are wierd tanks like a flat back hex. and a friend of mine has resealed a 210 and it held fine for over a year plus, before he sold it. but i also know that when I/He does a reseal its is a lot heavier of a seal then factory standard. meaning more sense of security to me. if it looks good and its an alright deal then i say go for it. if it looks kinda bad and ur worried, i wouldnt chance it. EK is right that 125 gallons is no fun to clean up. or even 20 gallons for that matter.

I resealed a 75 gallon aquarium and I plan to keep it in the garage in case it ever were to start leaking.

Any problems with other resealed tanks before?

We've resealed 2 - 210g tanks and never had a problem.  It's really going to depend on the person who resealed it, I'm thinking.

Re: Tanks that are resealed, are they worth it?

Yeah, I know the RR were installed later. I asked about. But I wanted it RR cause the room it's in is not that big.

So you got what you wanted? He stuck with the tank? He can't move that tank for asking price without the filter. Unless you paid more for the filter to make-up for the drop in price for the tank.

Well... he said there was gonna be a price break but you never showed up.

Got the 4x96w PCs and a 2260 filled with eheim ehfisubstrat pro! 18L!

He's was willing to take $500 for the pkg.

That bottom return out of no where is just so odd...careful piling rocks... don't want that pipe to break the bottom glass now.

Now you know I wouldn't over pay for anything... how am I gonna pay much of anything for the 2260 after getting my other one for only $36?

Dude, I'm straight scared to even put rocks on that side!

I'm get some egg crates and the bigger pile of rocks will be on the other side. I'll see how it goes.

After my finals I'm go hit up that spacial place for some free rocks. I got a sample....if you come up north give me a call. I'll show you how it looks.

The rock is like yours but with white running between the black.....it's hard to explain.

Regrading the filter, man I told him I would buy that filter for the asking price. The filter made the deal. He might had told you he would drop the price for the combo but he didn't say anything to me about it. Plus, I had to move on this tank......you know how much I got got it.

I told you to work with him and he said all he got from you was a bowl of flakes.

                              Its all good.

I found some killer new stones too... gonna wait til I'm bored of the stuff I got and change it out.
