is it worth it to spend 25 dollars on an upgrade with an eco mod for a maxijet 400? has anyone done this and how much more flow does it give? any info would help thanks

Yes.... On DrsFoster you get the 1200 mod, mj1200 and the bracket for like $30.

It's similar to the the sure-flo kit but mounts differently. Now if you buy local then you will be paying close to or more then what a Tunze Nanostream cost online.

I personally would just add a bit more and get the Tunze Nanostream... it's like $70 online, comes with an amazing magnet mount, pushes well over 1000gph with a simple cut of the shroud, will run over 24hrs powered by a small lawnmower drycell battery.

i just bought 2 koralina 3 and 2 koralina 4 and them seem to work ok maybe need to upgrade to tunze big boy....

The quality is much better... also the magnet mount is worlds better.

So far I have used Koralia 4 and the MaxJet 1200 with the Algae Free Modification and I prefer the MAxJet 1200 with the Modification any day.

If you can spend about another $30-40 I would get the Tunze instead though. A much better manufactured and engineered product, that is also a lot smaller in the tank.

I have two Tunze's I would be willing to part with. I really want to upgrade to an ecotech vortech.
Got a Tunze 660 first gen and a big boy, Tunze Turbelle stream 2 6125, which has the titanium alloy shaft.
I used a maxi jet 1200 modded and it was NOISY and it was inconsistent. Sometimes it would turn off and jam and I would have to stick my fingers in the front and get them buzzed by the impeller before it would kick back on.
Tunze doesn't do that...although neither does Koralia.

$40 for the Tunze 660 turbelle.
$220 for the Tunze Turbelle 6125.

I had one of the Eccomods be noisy for about a week. I guess it had a break-in period. Those Mods are cheap, and it shows. I've been running them about a year, and not had much of a problem.

On the other hand, I did have 1 Koralia that had a motor failure. Ek, had said there was a recall, but I never acted on it.

I might be upgrading to dual Eco Tech Vortechs for my Ilangi tank soon. 3,000gph with wave function, wireless wave driver and battery back up!

Then when I upgrade they will go on there.
