  • Tell me which one to follow....

I am setting my tank up either this week or next. As for filtration, I am going a step beyond conventional wisdom.

    1. 2 2262's and a 36x24x20 wet dry power by either a mag 12 or mag 18. The 2262's will be used for biological filtration only and the wet dry will handle the chemical, biological and mechanical filtration.
    2. 3 2262’s running a mix of chemical and biological filtration and a 36x24x20 wet dry for mechanical filtration.
Chemical with consist of seachem purigen in one of the 2262’s and all of them will be packed with EHFISUBSTRAT or EHFIMECH and noodles.

So what do you guys think? If I cannot fit all the 2262’s under my stand, I will run one as a polisher.

I thought the benefit of a wet/dry was the biological filtration?

With Tangs the absolute best benefit we get from it is the oxygenation.

Knowing what you are wanting from the tank I would run it like so....

-2262s' used for only biofiltration with the minimal mechanical
-Wet/dry for chemical filtration and oxygenation.... run the mag12 or maybe even a mag9.5.

With the underrated mag pump you will get less noise from the overflow and also have longer contact time with the chemical filtration. Also chemical and mechanical media needs to be changed more often IME then bio needs to be cleaned so being in the wet/dry it's easily accessible.

I was thinking the same thing EK.... Therefore I would not have to touch the 2262's for months.

Jeebus...a wet dry provide biological as well...it's a given with bioball. But when you running multiple filters you can alter them to fit your need.

                        How would that differ?

I will be using the third as well in my little 125g... you can never have enough filtration! Now only if my Vortech would hurry up and get here!

I measured it earlier cause I was under there mounting my battery backup.

I think I can fit another.

Ok, just did a little mock up and I definitely can fit another 2262 under there!

Just hard working with that big ole 1" intake pipe, also an eye sore too!
