BTW, how big was your water change last night?

I did about 50%-60% normally I add about half the recommended dosage of prime as the recommend just as a precaution.

Brian, when I was over Saturday night I noticed many of them breathing a little heavily and it looked like you may need more movement to break the surface down on the far end of the tank from the wall. Nearest the wall, the Koralia breaks up the surface nicely but the surface at the other end wasn't moving at all and had a sort of film on it...or looked like it.

I did some quick research for "problems".
The symptoms your fish exhibits comes down to one of two problems.

1. (and lets hope this is it)
Ammonia spike / Nitrites spike / or not enough Oxygen in the tank. You are on the right track by water change, and getting more circulation in the tank.
2. Gill flukes. Medication for everyone.

From what you have written those are the two only things I can think of that it could be from.

Now lets talk about water changes.
Because water is highly compressed when it comes out of the hose, you will notice the haze in your tank after a water change.. this clears up quickly (usually within 2-3 hours), but the problem is that with the expansion of the water there is usually a little bit of nitrogen released into the tank (earths atmosphere is made up of 78% Nitrogen) so it will not kill anyone, but the fish might be a little irritated over it (this is why betta breeders likes to put their water in a tank and o2 it overnight before doing water changes because it also removes the nitrogen from the water. Since Betta's and other labyrinth fish are a little more subseptible to water changes.
Since you are using a carbon filter I know your water does not have anything going into it that could kill off your fish. I am thinking what you are seeing is one fish that got a little stressed from the water change.

If what Mark says is correct and your not having enough water flow to at all times not having the surface moving well enough around that no film can cover the top, you should invest in a K4 and add it in to your system to boost water movements

my discus get like that sometimes. i just do about 75% WC, raise temp about 88 and add salt and formalin(feed them more often), give him about 2 days and he should come back normal. thats my experiment.

If you add salt to ur tank it will kill the plants.
Head standing/ tail standing what I have done in the past is move the discus to another tank add salt to it with water line just above the discus to remove some of the pressure of the water on the discus. Run plenty of air in tank. Do lots of water changing. I have had about 75% success rate with this before.

This issue has been discuss in the discus forms over & over. Look on simply or NADA Barb had written a few articles on this. Good luck

Thanks all for your help. I went offline yesterday afternoon. But after the water change I dropped in my Koralia 4 from upstairs and dropped an air stone as well. It took him a while but he is back to normal. He has his pep in his step again. The weird thing is I never had that problem before with just running the small Koralia in the corner before but I think I will just keep the bigger one in there from now on just to be safe. I dumped a bunch of salt to help relieve the pressure off of him will probably do another one tonight to remove it. But I could careless about the plants the discus are the most important and expensive thing. I am a happy camper again.

Well the fight seems to be for not. I came home for lunch today and this guy died. The thing that fustrates me the most is I have no idea why. He was face down in the sand. I checked his gills and they appear pink and fine. Both his mouth and gills were closed so doesnt appear to be lack of air. I checked his whole body and no signs of attack or infection. I squezzed the anus and normal poo came out. I checked all of his fins and nothing. This morning he came up and was waiting for food when I came to the tank so I didnt notice any behavior change. The others show no signs of anything out of the ordinary.
