  • Wrong foods.

Some kids in my house were messing around and threw some Gold Fish crackers in the tank and my Tropheus ate some of it. This is not the first time, they have poured milk in the tank.......:furious:

Would it do any harm? What can I do to ensure they are not in any danger?

    Thanks,

    Jason

    Water change.

Don't feed them anything for the rest of the day.

    Look for signs of blout.

Try to feed tomorrow. If they don't eat. Treat the tank.
I ate my fish that died.

lol, maybe you should keep a lid on the tank.

honestly, I think they will be fine if it wasn't a lot. I've seen tropheus eat a lot of crazy things.

I'm going to invest into one of those big 1'' hoses.

home depot. Really cheap. Go bigger if you can, like 1.25-1.5 inches.

How do you prevent fish from getting sucked in with a hose that big?

I have shoved a large spored sponge in my python when I was afraid of sucking fish up. Otherwise I just pay close attention while I am draining.

My kids know better than that! Come one day during a wc, I'll show you how to drain 150g in a hurry. Jim has a big hose.

Order one 1" threaded (or if you can find the slip get slip) screen. Threaded bulkhead screen. From Home depot buy the adapter to make it connect to 1" PVC -- then get a 24" piece of pipe, attach the adapter to that then get two 90 degree adapters and then like a 4 inch piece of pipe so that you can go over a euro brace (this is NOT needed if you dont have a euro brace). Then connect 1" spa hose (get the length you need to make it out the door or where ever you want to pour large amount of water).
Dont glue where the two 90 degrees connect because you want to be able to bend it so you dont drain the tank completely. (You will need to buy one street and one normal if you dont use pipe to separate them.
This is what I use to drain my tank. My 180 is drained 150g in about 10 minutes this way. Quick and easy. Then I refill with my carbon snake.. takes about 50 minutes. Over all just about an hour of time with one tank.
