Well... this problem has been going on for quite some time... I would say a few months... I initially thought it was maybe fungus.. as there was some fungus on some fish.. etc.. so It treated it with primafix and melafix..

Then I bought medicated food and tried that...

So knowing it took a couple of months to spread... is it still velvet? and if so what do I treat that with?

    Thx

So I treated the fish for velvet and Aeromonas... and no change... Can this be Tuberclosis?

Have you lost fish? Have behavior and eating patterns been affected?

*edit: Have the signs of the disease themselves gotten worse?

Yes lost three turquoise blues, a roseline, three bosemani's, 3 Irian jaya, 2 wanamensis. The syptom seem to be spreading... there are two wanamensis that have the reddish inflammation on their pectoral fins now.. There is a bosemani that is showing the same red inflammation as the turquoise blue in the picture that I posted in this forum... the inflammation at this time seems to be very small.. but I am pretty sure it's going to grow... the only time I saw improvement in the Turquoise blue posted in this forum was when I gave it a 30 min bath for two days and applied methyl blue directly to the infected area... I stopped the bath.. .as I lost 4 fish in the process....

Majority of my fish that are dying are the older ones... that have been around for at least a year now.. :(

Surprisingly the one pictured in this post is still alive... but not showing any signs of improvements... I think I might have lost another wanamensis.. .as I haven't seen him for the last 24 hours.. he had missing skin... on the side of his abdomen... which looked like it was healing.. there was clear whitish pooh sticking out of it's anal cavity and looked like he hasn't been eating as his stomach looked flat.

            Thx,

              Oh, geez, dude.

First of all, it's time to get any remaining fish that appear to be unaffected out of that tank. If you can save some and we can't do anything about the rest, you'll need to completely clean out and start that tank over from scratch, I think. (If I'm wrong, a second opinion will arrive shortly.)

Maybe you could next separate the ones that seem the least infected into a third tank. If you need help with this, I have a 15 gallon that I have plans for that have to wait and have been using it as a hospital tank - I don't mind babysitting if you don't have enough tanks.

What about behavior and eating? How different are they now compared to when they were well? How does it progress?

It starts with the fish either loosing scales on their body, or a small reddish spot on the side of their abdomen or right behind their pectoral fin. The roseline lost it's buoyancy and was swimming in a very irregular pattern. The other fish that died would get very sluggish and just swim around the surface, they wouldn't look like they are gasping for air... they would just hand around one corner of the tank close to the surface... The turquoise would get darker in color.. The bosemani's lighter in color... The wanamensis would get darker in color and sluggish... but would still respond to food in the water..

I just finished building a 210G stand and was going to move these fish and plants into it. How do I go about sterilizing the plants and soil in the 125G without ruining them?

I do have a couple of tanks that I can use to quarantine these fish... and thank you for offering to babysit them... I think by now it's kind of too late for all of them as they all have been in the same tank and fear that whatever the sick ones have is already on the others... My Blue Rams and Congo's, and Harlequins... seem to be unfazed by any of this... so I know for sure I will move them out... but am not sure about the rest. I will still quarantine as you suggested but am out of any ideas as to what this could be.. It is killing them slowly.. the fish respond to food and are very active.. but once the onset start they still stay very active till the last days where they start getting lethargic and swimming on the surface with the reddish inflammations and I think get too weak to swim and hit the bottom upside down and slowly die... I have been euthanizing the once that go belly up so the snails don't start eating them while they are still alive...

I am at a lost for words... I have lost some very beautiful fish and don't know what to treat the remainder with...

I have already used salt, coppersafe, and MarcynII for velvet and aeromonas...

This is absolutely terrible to say, but if you're right about it being too late for them, you might want to cull them all before they all get worse. Not having done that myself, I don't know the least horrible way to do that. And if you decide to, you definitely have my sympathies for having to do it.

Wait and see what others say. Good luck.

In a post 2 weeks ago you said you had Tetracycline on hand. I would have started using it 2 weeks ago..

The FURAN-2 and TETRACYCLINE treat different bacteria's. If I remember correctly, FURAN-2 is gram negative & gram positive, and tetracycline is gram negative.

I would order FURAN-2 and while waiting on it to arrive, I would start using the Tetracycline you have.

I actually ended up ordering Furan-2 and MaracynII.. the Tetracycline that I have is not enough for a 125G tank... I have enough of Furan-2 to complete a course for the 125G.

Should I use that first or wait till the complete batch of Tetracycline comes in?

                            Thx,

When I had fish that were sick with swollen red patches, I used Tetracycline to cure it.

But from what I can tell from your pictures, these red patches are more like open bulging masses on the fish. I would use FURAN-2 on it.

Then after a week if still not cured, then try the Tetracycline
