  • Zebra Danio

I am unable to determine my Zebra disease. Looks like it has some skin bacteria. Only one out of four is sick. It has been quarantined for a week now. Neither it is getting good nor worth. Eats and swims well.

The pictures look like the scales on his back are raised. Is this right? Are the scales raised on his entire body?

This is right. Whole body has raised scales but seen wery well only on the back. Also, whole body looks swelling in compare to other danois.

Sounds and looks like dropsy, which is a symptom of many different diseases. When dropsy (bloating) occurs, the disease has most likely progressed to an advanced stage, and in many cases the fish will not survive. :(

But, some can. :) Do plenty of water changes in the quarantine tank, as much as you can, to keep the water in good condition and to lessen the stress on the fish. Good thing he's in quarantine!

It's Dropsy, most likely. But the tough thing is that Dropsy is more of a symptom than an actual disease. It usually indicates an internal bacterial infection, but could also mean kidney damage. It's usually fatal, but I have successfully reduced the fluid using Epson Salt. When I've dealt with it, I treated with Clout, but I've never used this on a Danio.
