  • chloramines have arrived!

My local MUD started treating the well water with chloramines this week. I knew it was coming because I got the letter March 22nd. Next week or 2 I will be getting Lake Houston water also.
Did a water change on the 210 polyodon tank last night. Like I have 1,000's of times. I ran the water thru the carbon snake. Went to the garage to get on the computer. 20 minutes later went to check on the fish. NOT GOOD!. Fry laying on there sides, everyone gasping. I added 5 -1/4 teaspoons of sodium thiosulfate. Dipped out 20 fry and threw them in the 30's. I Only lost 3 fry. If I had waited 5 more minutes I would have lost everything. Bottom line The CARBON snake WILL NOT REMOVE all chloramines. So You must add a dechlorinator. The people at the water plant might have spiked the water with chloramines I don't know. I miss good old chlorine!
