    UPDATE:

The little dude is swimming like normal, has been since I put him in the 10g. I also noticed one of the Fronts holding.....how is this possible? I asked a couple of the guys on Frontosa.com and they told me that its not uncommon for a WC female to hold eggs even thougn they aren't fertilized. I haven't found any research that will back this theory up, but i'm gonna keep looking.

Anyway, so far so good with the sick Front.

i've heard of females holding unfertilized eggs too...although never seen it happen. how big are your fronts again? i thought you were saying they were too young? but then again you don't need a 10" front to breed just need to be old enough. I had 5-6" females that would breed.

you know you are definately doing something good if the fish has righted itself. If you can get them to do that, they are saveable.

Yeah, but they don't live in Houston.

              UPDATE:

Woke up today and did a 50% water change on the 10g. The Front seems to be doing fine. No discoloration or violent swimming. How long should I keep him QT'd before I put him back?

I'd probably go for at least a few days to ensure he get's whatever it was out of his system.

When I have to qt fish, I qt for 30 days if there are no symptoms. If a disease appears during qt, I treat and reset the 30 day clock from the day the symptoms disappear.

ok, so I think I figured out what is wrong with my fish. I have seen the same behavior now out of about 3 or 4 other Fronts. They are rushing to the surface, gulping air and then rushing to the bottom while releasing the air bubbles. I know its not the oxygen levels because I have lots of constant surface aggitation. A couple of the Frontosa guys from the other site have informed me that this is a condition known as "float". I've never seen that mentioned on this site before and I was wondering if anybody had heard of it. If so, how do you stop it? I'm still waiting on answers from the other site as well so all the info you can give me would be awesome.
