Do your water change before adding the salt.
Then, the next time you do a water change, if you are going to add salt again, don't add the full dosage. Salt doesn't evaporate or get filtered out, so if you are changing out 25% of the water, you are only removing 25% of the salt.
Example: If you are putting salt in the 72 gallon, you'd use 14 tablespoons of salt the first time. Then in a week (or whenever you do your normal water change), let's say you do a 25% water change, then you'd only add 3 - 1/2 tablespoons of salt.
