Help Leak on the 90 bow!

Not sure what happen but this afternoon noted some water around the bottom trim on the 90 gallon bow front. Thought I had maybe dripped some on there while doing work in the tank. Clean it off came back about 30 minutes later and there was more. Over 1 hour time frame I managed to wet down a wash cloth (not soaking but wet) wiping it down. I have everything out and running my hair dryer in it to completely dry it out. Looks like its at a corner where the bottom meets the glass. Had it out in my car port for over a week with water in it and nothing ever happen. Tank has been set up since Saturday with no problem. What are the chances that I am going to be able to fix this if I try to reseal it? Its got a really high trim frame so I can really do a lot and it still will not be seen. Sorry so long but wanted to give you guys as much information as I could. Also is it GE I or GE II that is safe for fish, can't remember which one. Dang I don't want to end up having to put the 55 back in the house and David getting this for a minnow tank

If you can locate the exact spot it's leaking from I'm sure you can fix it. Scrape of all existing silicon from that area and apply a good amount of GE1. Let it cure for at least 24 hours. Water test with a full tank of water. Cross your fingers. I'm about to do the same thing over here. Good luck.

Resealing a tank is pretty easy but it does require some patience and attention to detail . You could just reseal that one corner but from my own past experience , I would suggest that you reseal the entire tank . Two years ago I purchsed a 175 gallon bow front that had a leak . I filled the tank up about 75% and didn't find a leak . I even let it sit for several days ...still no leak . Thinking that I may have gotten a perfectly good tank at a leaking tank price.......I went ahead and set it up . Well , once I got it completely filled... the tank started to leak at one of the bottom corners . Being lazy and eager...I decided to just fix that one side . I resealed that one end...refilled the tank.... and guess what ? The tank stilled leaked !!! I drained the tank again and decided to do the job the right way . I resealed the entire tank . Over two years later and the tank is still running without a problem . What I realized was that because of the bottom trim on my tank you can't tell exactly where the leak is located . Just because the water leaked on that corner....the actual leak was somewhere else and it basically filled that bottom trim and spilled over at that corner spot . I know that this is alot to read but I thought it may help you to decide whether to partially reseal or completely reseal . My suggestion is to completely reseal because it may save you alot of time and give you a greater peace of mind .

Yea alex told me that black silicone on those bow fronts was defective. Those tanks are notorius for leaking. Like Dave said reseal the whole tank. Prep is the key. razor scrap. careful with the inner seal. Acetone all seams to clean residue. Do not tape it. Just get a good bead on each seam. Do one seam at a time. Press it in before you move on to the next seam. Press in real good and I mean press in real good. Extra attention in the corners. Do it in the morning because heat sets up the silicone quicker. Let it cure for 4-5 days. If you can not smell it should be good to go. Trim off excess silicone with a razor blade. More silicone is not better a small bead is more flexable than a big fat one and you can not press it in as well. good luck.

Thank you guys :-) David came in and rescued the crying wife (me) last night. I had everything broke down and had all ready called him to pick up the GE I as soon as fshfrk had responded with which one I needed. supdave he found where someone had done just what you where talking about and just put a touch of silicon in the corner trying to fix it once before (we missed this on inspection). He cut out all the old stuff and started over. fshfrk I do not know how well he pushed it down in there since he done this last night, I hope he done what you said to do. I will how ever trim off all the extra before fill up as that he used 3/4 of the tube. Nice to know these bow fronts are known for doing this, means now I will really be watching the 175 g in our bed room close. And here I thought they where awesome tanks I will update everyone Sunday how the refill goes and thank you all for your help. Not a problem at all! I moved it because I figured you might get more attention if people realized it was a disaster. Doesn't matter, though, because FF came to the rescue before then!

Ok everyone I filled it up about a hour ago and so far looks good. Going to let it set over night and see what happens. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Well 3 days of holding water and all looks good. Going to put the sand and rocks back in today and let it set another 24 hours before putting the "kids" back in it. If it starts to leak again I sure all you will hear me crying all the way down in Houston.
