  • Bloated Parrot (seriously) - Help?

Is it possible for a parrot cichlid to be 'egg-bound?' I know they're not a "normal" fish, but one of the ones I take care of is REALLY bloated. No protruding scales, it just looks like she ate an oversized golf ball. I'll post pictures when I get home, but just wondering if this has happened to anyone before.

She and another guy have dug a rather large hole, as per usual in parrot couples that I've seen, and her ovipositor is very extended. Her 'man' defends their 'nest' pretty well, but she just sits there, moving away sporadically but never very far.

    Thanks for any replies.

Also, over the past few months she's lost a lot of her color.

Wow it does not look good. Alex told me he's picked egg bound fish up and literally pulled(picked) out the egg bound mess with his finger(nail)? I would binox her in a QT.

              Wow...Ultimate Alex?

Thanks, John. The only problem with QT is, well, it's not possible right now. Unless I take her home, and I have enough trouble having parrots at work...it's a very conflicting and psychological problem for me, lol.

Wow, how would I even go about lessening her burden, if that's what it is? Yikes. I'd be very afraid to mess up.

Well, since I can't QT her, I guess I'll just see how she looks on Monday. :(
