  • Asian Climbing Perch with Raised Scales

Today I noticed that my Asian Climbing Perch has raised scales and looks like a pine cone. The other perch and the bichirs in the tank look ok. I have bifuran powder, melafix and epsom salts. I can separate him in a bucket, but how much epsom salts salts should I use and can I add the other meds? Thanks.

I use 1 tbsp per 10 gallons, but I've heard of some people using 1 tbsp per 5 gallons.

Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. He's retaining water and usually that is due to kidney (or other internal organ) failure. But don't write him off because I've had fish come back from this using Epsom combined with Clout. Use the Bifuran to try and counter a possible bacterial infection. Do a water change as often as you can and he might have a chance.

    Nick...sorry I missed your call.

In a baggie in the freezer. I'll have to bring the body to work with me for proper disposal.

So you're not going to eat it?

Or are you going to feed it to the dogs up there?
