  • Scratching but not ich

    I dont have a camera strong enuff to take pictures of this. I got Ich in my tank in tank about 2 months back and being new to this I didnt catch in very fast so I lost a fish because of it. I started using quickcure and got rid of the Ich. I still had one fish that was scratching its gills but I figured it was just a mental thing with this one fish. Three weeks ago flashing started again so I started treating with quickcure again before I seen any white spots this time. I have been using quickcure for way to long so I took a very close look today and noticed that acouple of the fish looked like they have red areas around the gils. I think it is blood. And one of my larger fish is keeping one of his/her fins to the side. All 19 of them are eating normally, and acting normal. If this is not Ich. what is up qith the red gills? Is this a parasite? I asked the person I bought the fish from and he had no idea. If anyone has some info please share. If anyone would come check them out that is close to me please let me know. I live about 5 min. from fshfrk. Help me out guys, I dont want to lose my Ikolas.

    The fish arent rubbibg thier sides, they are rubbing thier gils for sure. Everything ive read points to gill flukes. But if it was flukes then the quikcure should of solved this problem. I have also trated the entire 125 tank with Clout and that hasnt helped. The affected fish seem to have bloody spots on the outside of thier gills and thier heads are not turning black. It is staying a dull yellow color. Once angain, anyone with a idea of whats going on please respond.

      I think you still have ich. What temp do you keep the tank at? Maybe this will help.

        PH=8.4
        Amonia=0~.25 (my wife says the color matches .25 but i think its in between)
        Nitrite=0
        Nitate=0
        Water temp is 79 right now (I kept it at 84 while I was trating for ICH)
        I have salted the tank with API aquarium salt acording to the directions of 1 tablespoon for every 5 gallons.
        I use AquaSafe water conditioner with every water change.
        I change 25% water change 1 to 2 times a week. (mostly twice)
        Filtration is AC110, Aquatech 30-60, Fluval 305,
        Powerheads are K3 and K4
        Fish load is 19 trophs. Ikola between 2-3"
        Tank is 125 gallon. (probally less than 100 gallons of water. I have alot of Holey rock in the tank).
        2 heaters
        Food is NLS Chiclid formula 2 times a day. (Its rare to see a single pellet reach the sand. They are always hungry.)
        If its Ich, then i havent seen a white dot on any of them in awhile. Is it possible that the ich is living in the gills only?
        Not every fish seems to be infected. I can post any other info thats needs except pics. Takeing pictures of these guys is almost impossible. They never stay still.
