ok so i just got back from my little quest trip, and i the results are as follow: nitrate 20, nitrite 0, hardness 200, ph 8.4, alkalinity 100, amonia .25.
i'm guessing the ammonia results are due to the 2 dead fish i left in the aquarium to keep it from having to restart the cycle.
The guy at petsmart was actually very knowledgeable and after i explained what happened, he predicted it that more than likely it was due to temperature changes and not very likely due to bloat.
I missed petsmart's heater sale by a few days, but hfb member subsailor hooked me up with a good deal with that rena heater and some natural medication to treat bloat.
