I got up this morning to a near total tank wipeout.
I went to pull out a fish to look for the cause of the death and the water was warm... very warm. 98 degrees to be exact.
The slightly oversized heater had gone into runaway. I knew I should have had two or more lower wattage heaters but outlets are at a premium and I've never had one break on me like this. I knew better but...
The only survivors were some angelfish, a bala shark, and a clown loach. The death toll: 2 Burmese Border Loaches, 3 Coolie Loaches, about 10 Corydoras, 4 yellow labs, and 1 peacock. I couldn't account for 1 clown loach, 1 yellow lab, and I could've sworn I had more cories in there. I removed the dead fish, unplugged the heater, turned off the light, and double dosed some Prime in there. I think the Prime may have been a mistake but we'll see if anybody is still swimming when I get home tonight.
