    Egg Bound

    One of my females looks like she has swallowed a marble.  
    I have been conditioning her for spawning and she has produced so many eggs she can barely move.
    Anyone know how I can get her to release some of the eggs ?

    He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

    Salt?

    I have read a lot of threads about eggbound and most used salt to remedy it.

            I have 2 males that I want to spawn her to.  
            her jar has been sitting between them these last 2 weeks and she has been flirting with both of them but neither has built a nest yet.

              Ahh, okay. I understand the problem now. I was wondering, if you had males, why not just solve her problem the natural way?

              Does she still look like she's swallowed a marble? Is it possible to put her with a male, even though he hasn't yet built a nest, just to relieve her of some eggs?

                Well she has a hard time swimming, bloated the way she is.
                But I decided I'd rather loose her due to dammage during breeding/ than loose just sitting on the shelf.

                So today I put her and the Blue Butterfly Giant male in a spawn tank and my fingers are crossed.

                      Well, she beat the #*@$ out of that male.
                      He was hiding in the bushes with shreaded fins.
                      So I pulled him and put My Royal Blue Marble Giant Male in with her.
                      Hope he does better.
