I just did a water change (about 1/2 but not quite) and I had three dead fish in less than 30 minutes. NEVER has this ever happened. What's going on and what can I do before everything is gone???
More info would help. What do use to condition your water(remove chlorine etc.)? Did you let the water sit before adding to the tank or was it straight from the faucet into the tank? Have you tested your tap water lately to see if there has been any changes from the first time you used it(ie pH, alkalinity, etc.)?
Could be the temperature shock, could be some sort of chemical that is present that wasn't before.
First step, test your tap water and tank water to see what you have. Then get back to the HFB.
I think I added the water too fast but I did add the salt and Stress stuff. Never have checked the chlorine because I've never had this happened before. Have two more down. Am I going to lose the whole tank? I even have 6 days old Convicts. Geeze!
Yes, I used Stress Coat and added the salt. I do think I added the water too fast. My Plecos don't seem to be bothered nor do my Bubblegum Parrots (or whatever they're called). The Convicts seem stressed but still looking out for the babies.
The same happen to me in my fry tank I lost about 15 fry but I used tap water dum mistake but now I,take water from my big tank or just buy water from the watermill but, still add aquasafe...
It's morning and everyone who survived seems to be back to their old self again. I lost a total of 5. So dis-heartening. Thanks to everyone who pitched in to help.
I think it has a lot to do with what happened during the water change, i.e. temp, chlorine, all the parameters of the new water. But without knowing any of it and the fish mysteriously dieing I would say it was suicide. Some just don't have the will to live anymore.

Agree with the Prime or Amquel Plus instead of the stress stuff.
