  • Anchor Worm

One of my Moshi has anchor worm since a few days ago. Not sure where that came from. I've already dosed with Mardel Coppersafe (don't care about inverts in my tanks ). Wondering how long it will take to cure the issue? How long should I maintain copper in the water by redosing what's taken out in water changes?

This is the fish. If you look closely you can see a couple of worms hang on the wound.

      With this...

make sure your other filters on other tanks are accessible if needed in the event of a beneficial bacteria nuke.

I would do dips/baths for the infected fish with potassium pemerganante (sp?) with a mean aerator, probably best to keep a 10g to save a bit on hassle stress while you are treating it. Or formalin works, in the past I have had good luck with Praziquantel for treating whole tank.

While you are dipping the fish, hit the tank the infected came from with Clout just in case and with this also make sure you increase aeration and remove all purigen/carbon prior to dosing.

Water changes inbetween doses and add what you have removed in the water change, except for the clout, I would go full strength on that for about 5-7days.

Man, I was looking to keep from using Clout because I don't want blue silicone. I was looking around for potassium permanganate and can't seem to find any. Where did you get yours? Does it kill the worm or is it a disinfectant against a secondary infection?

BTW, what are your thoughts on Copper Safe?

Try praziquantel then, I would go with this. I hate blue silicone too.

The potassium its been too long. Maybe someone can chime in. Its to hit the worm right now.

I've never used copper since I don't like the idea of It lingering in the system.

There is some sort of bulk medication I bought, maybe parasite guard?... Its still fuzzy and I'll try and come up with it. I remember the plastic jar was huge and it did work on my koi...

Finally found the brand, it was Jungle labs Pond Anchors Away (cute name, guess its why I went with it...) and picked it up at Houston Aquatics for around $10. Wish I still had the jar, it would be your if so...

The active ingredient in this is available in different brands. Saw different products with this at both Xtreme and FG today.

Looking for this specifically to be able to treat mass quantities of water. Which ones did you see at Xtreme and FG?
