Well this is the first item that I have had an algae outbreak and need some guidance. The algae appeared a few days ago. Once the tank cycled, I started the light cycle and 3 days later, bam...algae covering the substrate. The lights were on for 8 hours a day, nitrates-0,ammonia-0, nitrites-0, ph-6.4. Since the outbreak I did a water change with a gravel vac. Without disturbing the substrate, I sucked most of it out. I have shut the lights completely off, and it is still growing. Growth is very slow, but still growing nonetheless. There are no inhabitants in the tank since it had just finished cycling. I need some help getting rid of this stuff before I move forward with stocking the tank. Below is a pic of what it looks like. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Algae problems. Someone help me out

Its new tank syndrome. Growing from the excess nutrients and such in the water column. Do you have any plants in there yet? Put something that grows fast, to out compete the algae. No need to wait on stocking the tank, its harmless to livestock. It happens all the time with the start of a brand new system. Should go away in a month or so. Keep up with water changes. Good luck.30Long: L134 Leopard Frog Plecos X16, Corydoras Sterbai X9, Endlers X4
