  • Not sure what this is

This fish started showing these spots about 2 weeks ago. When it first started I thought it was from being picked on, bites or scratches from rocks. I removed the aggressive fish but nothing really changed. Last week I treated the tank with clout because of Malawi bloat in other fish and I thought this one too. Nothing has changed with this fish, if anything the spots are getting worse. Luckily Whatever is affecting this fish, it doesn't appear to be contagious.

I thought so too but if it was ick then it should have spread?

Not always. It can start off on only one fish and then spread.

Plus, the clout should have treated the Ick if that was the issue. I know it's hard to tell in pics, but not all marks are dots. On one side there is a white line. If it wasn't abuse, I was thinking maybe some kind of fungus or bacteria on the scales, but again I would have thought clout would help. The white spots almost look like they are coming off the skin, like a tiny fuzzy dome.

White and fuzzy is ick IMO. What's your tank temp? What kinda rocks do you have? How old is the clout? How long have you been treating?

Tank is kept about 80*, 40g plus wet dry. Did 2 treatments of clout, of 5 pills(for 50g) each time. I just bought the clout but who knows when it was made

Raise temp to 84, 70% water change and then treat. Repeat Wednesday.

To be safe I'm gonna remove him from the tank and put him by himself

                    Not sure what this is

If you have a quarantine tank that's fine as well. Just watch your other fish. If they show signs, you'll need to focus on treating the whole tank.

And scrap the clout and pick up some methayline blue. Treat with half doses. Works great, never had issues.

I don't think it's anchor worm. From the description and pictures that's not what it looks like. This is anchor worm:
