Wow...we just replaced all our aquarium lights tonight with some that we got at FRII, so I went and looked at all the bulbs to see what we used to have on our tanks.  Here's where it gets interesting....all of them were PowerGlow, with the exception of some we had on our 150.  Those were AquaGlow and amazingly enough, that is the tank we've been having a few problems with.  In fact, we just added another filter on it last weekend!  Whatdoyaknow.....let me know how your experimenting goes and I'll share my experiences in the next week or so as well.

I really like the Power Glo, but I can't be sure if it's for fish only.  EK would probably know since he's a planted tank guy.  But having said that, I didn't have problems with any of the tanks except the one with the AquaGlo lighting.

It's too bad you don't live closer.  You could borrow a few of ours and see what works for you and what doesn't.

For fish only, a bulb is a bulb is a bulb, really. You could even go to Walmart/Home Depot/Lowes and get a generic fluorescent bulb if you want. It's more personal preference, i.e. appearance and color that you like most.

I'm surprised you guys have had problems with AquaGlos...That's strange. I actually prefer those over many of the other "Glo" bulbs, but then again, my tanks are all planted...Who knows! But I've never had a problem with them. I think that, unless it's some crazy infrared-only spectrum or something, your choice of bulbs won't make too much of a difference. So I'm thinking it may be because of something else.

I'd think about Walter's suggestion, too. Process of elimination. Compare this tank with your other tanks. What is different? There's gotta be something specific causing the cloudy water in this one, especially since your other tanks aren't having that problem.

see thats what ive been tryin to figure out.  i have tried new filters, ive tried chemicals, ive tried extra filtration, ive tried cleaning,  not cleaning  :bsjoke:
ive actually tried removing the fish completely,  and i added real rocks instead of fake stuff, Im seriously taped out.  i cant really try anything anymore acept a bulb.  thats about the only option and if my memory timeframe is right, the bulb is what i did before the problem so,  hopefullly that will work.
